Digital TV is basically a process of turning off analog terrestrial broadcasting. Some countries already adopted digital TV while others are in a transition stage. It is a device that supports many different picture formats defined by the combination of size, aspect ratio (width to height ratio) and interlacing. The reason why this is becoming popular is mainly because of improved quality and picture. Moreover, it offers more bandwidth resulting in more channels leading into more thematic channels and time shifting of films . It also entices interactive multimedia services. As far as benefits for the government of that country are concerned, it propels the country into the digital age in order to achieve competitive advantage. As far as advantages to service providers are concerned, it offers opportunities for providing value added and enhanced services.

At this point of time, some light on enhanced TV needs to be thrown which says that whilst watching a program, a viewer can access additional information, different views or respond to questions asked and as far as interactive services are concerned- accessing information is independent of a TV channel. One can have reception of this TV through different ways and one of the oldest means of receiving DTV is through antenna while the other ways that emerged in the market are digital cable and digital satellite.
